optimal operation of urban environmental systems

A network consisting of academic institutions, industries for environmental products and design as well as public utilities researchers, public facilities and private businesses has been established in order to facilitate projects within the wastewater and solid waste areas, where very favourable conditions for cooperation between Denmark and Sweden are evident. The long term goal of the project is to integrate the mass, energy and information flows in urban environmental systems in order to optimise the operation of urban water systems and organic waste streams for a cleaner environment and a better economy.

Two research projects have already been established and funded within the network:
1. Integrated IT control of wastewater operation
2. Optimisation of organic solid waste handling.

The network is currently working with expansion of the scope and research towards system wide operations and extended research within the areas already defined.
